Changing Face of Cardiac Surgery
The face of cardiac
surgery is changing for a number of reasons:
- Aging population,
Australians have one of the highest life expectancies
- Stenting and
balloon angioplasty
- Improved medical
therapy
At Allamanda Hospital less than half of our patients are routine
cases. The remainder will have one or more of the following risk factors:
- Age greater than 80
- Preoperative
impairment in left ventricular contractility
- High risk
conditions such as endocarditis, redo-operation
- Unstable
preoperative state
- Previous
percutaneous intervention
At Allamanda Private Hospital we continue to deliver results superior to
those predicted when adjusted to our patient population. For more information
see cardiac surgery database.
