Rising Cost of Heart Surgery
These are the causes of the increasing costs of heart surgery:
- The collapse of large insures such as HIH and Unitel Medical Protection which have resulted in levies which doctors have to pay
- Increasing litigation and cost of liability insurance
- Failure of the government to adjust their recommended medical fees (Medical Benefits Schedule or MBF) to keep up with inflation and the rising cost of running a medical practice.
76% of doctors recently surveyed by “Australian Medicine” indicated that they would be increasing their fees to compensate for the higher overheads they had to pay.
34% of doctors surveyed will be paying medical insurance levies of more than $9000 per annum.
What this means to you
We have been able to keep our "gap" below those by the AMA.
But rest assured, if you have limited finances and need urgent surgery, we will carry out your operation and arrange a payment program which you can afford.
